Chores shouldn’t need a referee

🗣️

The daily nagging

“Did you feed the dog?” “I thought it was Leo’s turn!”

🤷

Who did what?

By the end of the week nobody remembers who actually did their chores.

💵

Allowance arguments

Working out who earned what, every Friday, with kids watching.

How it works

Set it up once. Tick it every day.

  1. Add your family

Each child, what a point is worth to them, and a bonus for a perfect week.

  2. Add the chores

Who does it, how many points, and which days it needs doing.

  3. Tick and pay

Tick chores off each day. Points and allowance add up by themselves.

The chart

A chart that shows what’s due, done and missed

Every chore and every day of the week. Due days are yellow, done is green, missed days turn red and today’s column is highlighted. Print it for the fridge or keep it on a tablet.

  • Week starts by itself every Monday
  • Tick from a drop-down
  • Room for 30 chores and 6 kids

Questions

Do I have to pay allowance?

No. Set $ per point to zero and use the points as a game, or for rewards like screen time.

How do I start a new week?

Type last week’s points into History, then select the ticks and press Delete. The week moves on by itself.

Can the kids tick their own chores?

Yes. Open it on a tablet or phone with the free Excel app, or print it and tick it by hand.

Can adults be on it too?

Yes. Add anyone on the Family tab, with or without allowance.

Does it use macros?

No. It’s a normal .xlsx file, so there are no security warnings and nothing to enable.

Which versions of Excel does it work with?

Microsoft 365, Excel 2010 or later on Windows, and Excel for Mac. It’s built for Microsoft Excel.

Is this a subscription?

No. You pay once and the file is yours to keep.

Fewer reminders. More done.

A family chore chart with points and allowance, in one file.
