Hi, I’m Lee
I run Sheet Leveller on YouTube, where I make quick, no-nonsense Excel tutorials.
This calculator uses Excel’s PMT and NPER functions, the same maths banks use, explained in my tutorials.
Questions
Do I have to add an interest rate?
No. Leave it blank and it simply divides what’s left by the months you have.
What interest rate should I use?
Your savings account’s yearly rate (APY), like 4.5% for a high-yield account. Rates change, so update it now and then.
Does it link to my bank?
No. You log deposits yourself, which only takes a few seconds.
Can I track debt payoff too?
This one’s for saving. For paying off debt, see the Debt Payoff Planner.
Does it use macros?
No. It’s a normal .xlsx file, so there are no security warnings and nothing to enable.
Which versions of Excel does it work with?
Microsoft 365, Excel 2010 or later on Windows, and Excel for Mac. It’s built for Microsoft Excel.
Is this a subscription?
No. You pay once and the file is yours to keep.
