The bills that aren’t surprises, but still hurt
The yearly insurance bill
You knew it was coming. It still lands on the credit card.
Christmas on credit
December arrives, the money doesn’t, and January is spent paying it off.
The “emergency” repair
Tires, the dentist, the water heater. Not really emergencies, just unplanned.
Set it up once. Save a little every payday.
List your funds
Each thing you’re saving for, the target, when it’s due and whether it repeats every year.
Move the money
On payday, add a deposit for each fund. The tracker tells you how much.
Pay the bill from the fund
When it’s due, the money’s already there. Repeating funds start again by themselves.
Exactly what to set aside each payday
Every fund shows what’s saved, what’s left, how many paydays you have, and the amount per payday to be ready on time. Paid weekly, every two weeks, twice a month or monthly.
- Repeating funds roll on by themselves

Hi, I’m Lee
I run Sheet Leveller on YouTube, where I make quick, no-nonsense Excel tutorials.
This tracker uses the SUMIFS, DATEDIF and EDATE formulas from my tutorials, so every fund works itself out.
Questions
Do I need a separate bank account for each fund?
No. Most people keep all their sinking funds in one savings account. The tracker shows how that one balance is split between funds.
What happens after a yearly bill is paid?
Add it as Spent. When the due date passes, the fund rolls on to next year’s date and starts again.
I’m paid twice a month. Does that work?
Yes. Choose Twice a month on the Settings tab and every per-payday amount updates.
Does it link to my bank?
No. You add deposits and spending yourself, which takes a minute each payday.
Does it use macros?
No. It’s a normal .xlsx file, so there are no security warnings and nothing to enable.
Which versions of Excel does it work with?
Microsoft 365, Excel 2010 or later on Windows, and Excel for Mac. It’s built for Microsoft Excel.
Is this a subscription?
No. You pay once and the file is yours to keep.
Next time the big bill comes, you’ll be ready.
A little every payday, for every bill you know is coming.
